Celebrating the bicentennial of two great composers,
exploring the exciting musical centers of Berlin, Leipzig, and Vienna,
and visiting the magnificent palaces of Eisenstadt and Esterházy
highlights of this exciting tour include:
Berlin- Old Masters Gallery, museums, Mendelssohn concert at Bechstein Salon, and a visit to Mendelssohn's grave
Historic keyboard and instruments museums in Berlin and
Leipzig (the Musical Instruments Museum in Leipzig has the largest
collection of Cristofori pianos in the world!)
Leipzig- Mendelssohn, Bach, and Schumann houses, visit to the
Thomaskirche, private concert at the Mendelssohn house- the program
will be variations by Bach, Haydn, and Mendelssohn played by Hungarian
pianist Peter Toth
Vienna- Haydn residences, St. Stephen’s Church, Hofburg palace, and a private concert of Haydn's music at the Haydn house.
Haydn birthplace at Rohrau and the lovely Austrian countryside
Verdi’s Rigoletto at the St. Margarethen Opera Festival
